St Nicholas Blessing

See that ye be at peace among yourselves,
my children, and love one another.
Follow the example of good men of old
and God will comfort you and help you,
both in this world and in the world that is to come.
+in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen

St. Theresa's Prayer:

May today there be peace within, May you trust God that you are exactly where you are meant to be, May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith, May you use those gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you... May you be content knowing you are a child of God... Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the Freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love. It is there for each and every one of us.
May God hold you in His hands and give you Peace at Christmas time

Promote World Peace

"What can you do to promote world peace? Go home and love your family." — Mother Teresa

One Little Candle

Light from Light
At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.

St. Nicholas Day December 6

Today is St. Nicholas Day and I would like to wish each of you a very Happy St. Nicholas Day. Every country and culture that celebrates Saint Nicholas has its own traditions and legends related to the Saint. When Saint Nicholas Day approaches, the Saint also announces the start of winter holidays like Christmas and New Year, traditions that most counties who recognize Saint Nicholas celebrate.Saint Nicholas is generous with everyone, which makes the month of December the perfect time to recount our past and hopeful forgive in the future. Saint Nicholas has been known to bring gifts and joy to children in many countries. Children prepare their shoes and boots, to receive toys and surprises from the kindly Saint Nicholas. They clean and polish their shoes and boots and leave them by the door. Saint Nicholas Day is also celebrated in Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Croatia, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Kosova, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Montenegro, Poland, Turkey, Romania, the Russias, Serbia, Slovakia, and Switzerland. Children who were good throughout the year can expect to find their shoes and boots filled with coins, fruits, candies and other gifts. However, the naughty children will receive coal, ashes, or switches, representative of punishment. The kindly Saint is forgiving so they seldom are punished, but receive a “blessing.” I pray your boot if full to the top and that all your dreams come true. Happy St. Nicholas Day to you, your family, and those you love.

Deep South Pole

Deep South Pole

Sante Claus is moving south
The weather he loves best,
So many years out in the cold
He thinks he needs a rest.
Delivering the packages
He won’t mind in the rain
Instead of using reindeer
He now will take the train.
He hates to leave the Arctic North
But deep down in his soul,
He knows it’s better for his health,
Or so he has been told.
He can wear a thinner suit,
And never wear a vest.
Instead of wearing leather boots,
Galoshes will be best.
The reindeer can just run and play
And dance upon the sand.
They will not have to worry
If they cannot see to land.
Making rounds upon the train
Should surely make it better,
Instead of wearing lots of fur,
He can wear a sweater.
If the weather starts to change,
Should the fog get thicker,
He can keep his sweater dry
With his red rain slicker.
So hang your stocking by the gate,
And do not tell a soul,
Sante’s coming very soon,
From the Deep South Pole.

The Gift

The Gift
I pray that you and your family experience, Christ, the greatest Gift of the Christmas Season. Bind your hearts with love, peace, and hope, and always, keep Christ unto you. And always remember, “For unto you is born, this day in the City of David, A Savior, which is Christ the Lord, and ye shall find the babe’ wrapped in swaddling clothes, and lying in a manger.”

St. Nicholas Prayer

St. Nicholas Prayer

Blessed Saint Nicholas, we honour you for your actsof kindness, goodwill, and charity to those on the margins of life. Inspire us with your desire for justice and joy for all people; help us learn from you what faith and action means, and make us aware of those around us. Give us the same sense of joy you had in your ministry. And when we remember you may we also remember the Lord you loved and followed, both in times of tribulation, famine, persecution and humiliation, as well as in times of joy and peace. Amen.Canon J M Rosenthal

A Tiny Lump of Coal

A Tiny Lump of Coal
I would like to fill your stocking,
But the bad news I’ve been told.
That you have been kinda naughty,
So all you get is Coal.
If I use the honor system,
And you choose to share your soul,
Your Bear can be your witness,
That you’ve been good as gold.
When eating at the table,
Don’t let your meal get cold.
Mind your table manners,
Sit straight, don’t tip the bowl.
Just listen to your Mother,
Let goodness be your goal.
Always share with others,
And do what you‘ve been told.
Just hang your biggest stocking,
Secured so it can hold.
A lot of Christmas goodies,
And a tiny lump of coal.

St. Nicholas' Commission

Jesus said in the New Testament, that "you have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you."

Christmas Song for St. Nicholas

In many European Countries, children must sing, dance, recite a poem, or tell St. Nicholas a story. They will then be rewarded with a treat such as candies, fruit, or a small toy of some type. This young man was singing a little song, and at the end, he smiled and said, Chocolade Bon-Boni'. I feel so honored when the children clap and sing for me. I remember one very hot day in July, several years ago. I was at the market in the small Kosova town near where I lived. I was buying tomatoes and cucumbers to make Shoup Salad. The store owner had lived in Germany and spoke both German and English. He said that the children on the corner across the street were singing for me. I was amazed. I turned and they were singing and dancing in a joyeous state. There must have been ten or twelve little ones from toddlers to six or seven years. Excitement consumed me as I watched them wave. I was standing by an ice cream chest full of Magnum Bars. I said, lets give them ice cream bars. He suggested I buy a less expensive bar as there were so many. I told him that they were giving there best for me, I want to give the best to them. We all had Ice Cream together on that July day, and I am left with a wonderful memory of the children of Kosova.
